Information, not advice
Program Payoff republishes federal statistics about what certificate and associate programs cost, what their graduates have earned, and what the occupations they lead to pay. It is provided for general information. It is not financial, career or educational advice, and it is not a prediction of what you personally will earn.
What a figure on this site means, and what it does not
Graduate earnings are the median of people who completed that program at that school and had earnings in the year measured, as published by the U.S. Department of Education. A median is the middle of a range, not a typical outcome for everyone, and it is measured over a cohort that finished several years ago. It says nothing about what a person who enrols today will earn.
A dash is not a zero. The Department withholds any figure computed from too few graduates, which covers roughly four of every five programs. Where we show a dash, the Department has published nothing — it is not a judgement about the program, and it does not mean graduates earned nothing.
Occupation wages are the state median for everyone working in that occupation, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, not for graduates of any program listed. The occupations a program leads to come from the federal CIP-to-SOC crosswalk, which maps fields of study to occupations in general; a given graduate may work in one of them, in several, or in none.
Accuracy
We show the release each page's figures come from. College Scorecard publishes annually and BLS annually, and a newer release can exist before we have loaded it. We make no warranty that any page is complete, accurate or current; the authoritative figures are the agencies' own.
Use of the site
You may use the site for personal and professional research. You may not scrape it at volume or republish substantial parts of it. Automated access is limited to reasonable rates. This does not restrict the underlying data, which is a work of the US Government and in the public domain — take it from the Department of Education and BLS directly.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ospan is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or reliance on its content, including any decision about where or whether to study. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places our liability is limited to the extent permitted.
Third-party links and advertising
Links to other sites, including referral links, are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or practices. Advertising and referral placements are labelled, and no school can pay to appear, to rank higher, or to have a figure changed or removed.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; continued use after a change is acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
